Project Concept
To build a Tableau dashboard for a dog adoption agency that helps foster, shelter, and adopt dogs coming from around the world to the United States. A few of their key purposes include helping dogs relocate with ease, ensuring their well-being, and maintaining an online platform to facilitate their adoption. Many of these tasks can be highly sensitive and even stressful for the dogs. Hence ensuring proper transfer and care is a meticulous process that requires tracking on all levels. Besides this, the agency also wants to understand what kind of dogs people prefer to adopt and improve their adoption rate. They have several metrics to gain insights for the same. We have sourced data from 2017-2019 for approx. 58,000 individual dogs to create a dashboard that can provide meaningful insights and help the agency achieve their goals. We have combined the two datasets to capture meaningful attributes for the dashboard - Kaggle & Bloomington Open Data.
Insights from the Visualization
Identify the characteristics (breed, color, sex, size, etc.) of dogs that are preferred by adopters in different regions.
Summarize the information on unadopted dogs to help adopters find the right match.
Determine the patterns of dog movement and relocation, and how different states rely on imported dogs for adoption.
Determine if there are any trends in the breeds of dogs being brought/returned to shelters.
